In a speck of a town, a teenage boy, J.J., has fallen in love; Ivory is the name of the woman and she is everything he wants but nothing he should. Ivory does not know J.J. exists as a prostitute she is too busy battling her own evil spirits. The last thing on the twenty-seven-year-old hooker’s mind is a high-school senior/wannabe singer. However, the lives of these two and their friends will become entwined…but to what end? Wanting Ivory is a story about desiring what you cannot always have. It’s an account of past mistakes and how they tend to catch up with you. The setting is the small town of Jefferson Elms, here you will learn of a conflict within the hopeful rock band The Stinging Angels. The band’s four members Bryan , Drex, Gabe, and J.J. are systematically introduced, as is Ivory. The story unfolds to reveal a competition of bands that all members are frantic to win, for various independent reasons, but collectively as a “shot out” of small town despair. The problem J.J.’s obsession with Ivory and her own with finding a soul…a mixture that will lead to much discord, deceit, and discovery. Each chapter will show a different character point-of-view and will have the reader guessing until the end what will happen!

I had downloaded the first pages of "Wanting Ivory" prior to purchase and was almost dissuaded from buying it. The book seemed most suited to teenagers or young adults, initially...and I am rapidly approaching middle age. As I continued reading, however, and the complexity of the characters evolved, I was captivated! I am so glad that I decided to purchase this, in spite of my initial misgivings. This book was, as the other reviewer stated, very memorable. I will recommend this to my friends, and I, too, will look forward to more books from this author! Wanting Ivory is a compelling story of a group of young people desperate to escape thier "small town" life. Thier interaction among themselves and with Ivory is heart wrenching and a great characterization of the angst of youth. Highly recommend for YA readers as well as adults.Really enjoyed the book!
Terrible book,I deleted it from my kindle after reading 2 chapters. May-be if you are a 13 year old male it might appeal to you. Don't waste your time or money.
So often you read a book and have trouble recalling the characters and details later. Every once in a while you read a book whose character's "stick" with you. Wanting Ivory is just such a book. Though I just read it I know that the characters will reverberate in my mind for a long time to come. Looking forward to more from this author!
At first I thought this was something I wouldn't enjoy reading and only did so because a friend said I should. Wow was I wrong. Quickly I couldn't put it down and now I am sad its over. I can not wait for the next book from this great new Author!
I purchased Wanting Ivory not knowing what it was going to be about. I am the type of reader that doesn't continue reading if the first few pages doesn't hook me. Let's just say I finished the book. I fell in love with the cheaters and their trials and tribulations. Wanting Ivory is well written and I felt like I was apart of the story. I loved all the twists and turns as well. It is hard to find a book that keeps you on edge. I would recommend this book and I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.
